Eugene “Charlie” Harguth, 77, of Maynard died Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Lakewood Care Heart in Staples. Christian Funeral Mass was held on Monday, November 21, 2022 at 11 a.m. at St. Clara Catholic Church in Clara Metropolis. Visitation was on Sunday, November 20, 2022 from 2-4 p.m. additionally on the church with a prayer service at 1:30 p.m. The visits continued one hour earlier than the service.

Eugene “Charlie” Andrew Harguth was born on August 18, 1945, in his house in rural Chippewa County. He was the son of Arthur and Hazel (Uttermark) Harguth. Charlie, who gave himself his personal nickname on the age of three, grew up on the household farm. Charlie was baptized and confirmed at St. Clara Catholic Church in Clara Metropolis. He attended St. Clara Parish College till eighth grade, then went to Maynard Excessive College the place he graduated in 1963. After highschool, Charlie joined the Nationwide Guard and served for 10 years.

Charlie was married to Betty Hacker on April 8, 1967 at St. Clara’s Catholic Church in Clara Metropolis. They began their life collectively by cultivating and went via “the part” and raised their two youngsters. Charlie was a farmer till 1989 when he began working constructing grain elevators and different agriculture-related jobs.

Charlie was a life member of St. Clara’s Catholic Church. He has served on the Granite Falls Golf Course Board and the Farmers Elevator Board in Gluek. Charlie was a proud member of Clara Metropolis American Legion Publish #485 the place he served as Sergeant-at-Arms within the Drill Squad and was Commanding Officer.

Charlie loved {golfing}, taking part in playing cards, bowling, dancing, motorcycling and snowmobiling. Her lifelong pleasure was driving horses with their youngsters. They had been members of the Maynard Hawk Creek Saddle Membership. The household has taken many tenting journeys with the horses, the mixture of those two beloved hobbies has created many treasured reminiscences. When the grandchildren arrived, Charlie continued to journey with them via 2020. Seeing the grins on their faces as they discovered to like driving was his best pleasure. In retirement, Charlie began gardening and loved sharing his harvest with others. He additionally began fishing lately and reeling the fish was the very best half.

Charlie is survived by his spouse, Betty Harguth of Maynard; youngsters, Vincent (Nan) Harguth of Murdock, Rhonda (Todd) Thompson of Cherokee, Iowa; grandchildren, Kaitelynn (Jarred) Myers, Jessica Harguth, Andrew Harguth, Jennessa Helm, Makayla Helm, Ethan Thompson, Kaylie Thompson; great-grandchildren, Jaxson Myers and one other due in February; sisters, Millicent Koenen of Clara Metropolis, Ardys Hughes of Marshall, Sandra Rothers of Kerkhoven, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Elaine Harguth, Clara Aly, Henry Hacker, Paul Hacker; in addition to a number of nieces, nephews, different family members and associates.

Charlie is predeceased by his dad and mom, Arthur and Hazel Harguth; father and stepmother, Henry and Sylvia Hacker; siblings, Gary Harguth, Sharon Harguth; brothers-in-law, Donald Koenen, Jerry Hughes, Jon Rothers; nephew, Douglas Koenen.
